Jill and Jinger’s Tell All books spilled some shocking Duggar News and shook the reality TV world. The former’s Counting the Cost was published in September 2023, while Jinger’s Becoming Free Indeed came in January 2023. Both of these books changed the dynamics, and Joy-Anna wasn’t able to believe her eyes at all. She stated, “I came to a point where I was just like, ‘What do I believe?.”
Joy-Anna further confessed on the podcast that she often used to wonder what was real and what wasn’t. Things further became hard for her because Jinger’s book came just four months after she welcomed her first child. While she was already dealing with the postpartum phase, she saw her family’s disintegration. Joy-Anna considered that phase as the “darkest” period of her life and wasn’t able to control her tears as she nearly choked while recalling those years.

She admitted that she felt her entire family was coming down after Jill and Jinger’s books came out. The celeb explained how, after reading the latter’s book, she started to question all of her religious beliefs. Joy-Anna recalled how her Christianity was a “checklist” because she was taught certain things that she had to do to please God.
After reading Jill and Jinger’s books, Joy-Anna had to work on her religion again. Hence, she decided to meet counselors for the same, and her husband, Austin, encouraged her to find the answers to her questions. The celeb was happy that she was able to come out of her “fear-based” ideas and explore all the possibilities of the world. But that’s not all.
Joy-Anna further talked about her “baby blues” in 2019. All of this happened for almost six months after the stillbirth of her daughter, Annabelle. She confessed, “I was in a fog for like six months.” The celeb recalled how she wasn’t taking good care of herself and her body was “depleted.” Hence, Joy-Anna ended up becoming exhausted, and everything started to pile up on her. This further deteriorated her condition and made things worse.
